Western Sussex Rivers Trust
Revolutionary rebrand for a rivers trust on a mission to restore our riverscapes
Branding
Marketing and Merchandise
-
The Western Sussex Rivers Trust needed a bold new identity to reflect its ambitious mission of protecting and restoring Sussex’s riverscapes. This rebrand had to engage a diverse audience—including farmers, landowners, water companies, and the general public—while establishing the trust as a forward-thinking, authoritative, and collaborative force for change.
The goal was to create a name, visual identity, and messaging strategy that would not only inspire action but also position the trust as a leader in conservation efforts. -
We worked closely with the trust’s team through creative and naming workshops, ensuring their expertise and vision guided every step of the brand development. The new identity needed to capture both the trust’s mission and the beauty of the landscapes it protects, creating a strong foundation to propel the organisation and its message forward.
Drawing inspiration from the diverse habitats, environments, and wildlife of Sussex’s riverscapes, we crafted a brand that embodies energy, versatility, and the dynamic flow of water.
The Outcome
The result is a bold, bright, and modern brand identity that reflects the trust’s passion and impact. The visual language takes cues from the varied Western Sussex riverscapes—from harbours and marshes to riverbanks and forests—capturing both the intricate beauty of these environments and the awe-inspiring scale of their ecosystems.
The colour palette reflects the rich and diverse hues found in these landscapes, creating a vibrant yet natural feel. A library of bespoke illustrations brings the region’s incredible wildlife into the brand’s design and communications, while custom patterns evoke the energy, movement, and connectivity of flowing water.
Photography plays a key role in bringing the brand to life. People-focused imagery is natural and celebratory, highlighting how individuals of all ages and backgrounds can engage with and appreciate their local rivers. Meanwhile, wildlife photography showcases the extraordinary species and plants that call these riverscapes home, capturing both grand landscapes and intricate details to spark curiosity and wonder.
With a strong visual identity and compelling messaging, the Western Sussex Rivers Trust is now equipped to inspire action, build partnerships, and drive meaningful change for the future of Sussex’s riverscapes.
